After 34 years as the owner of an insurance agency, David retired in 1997. Over the years, he had channeled his creativity and handiwork into renovations on his 100-year old home and boat remodeling. In retirement, he chose a new and different artistic route.
David began evening classes at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, where he produced his first sculpture in 2003. After attending night school there twice a week for 2 years, he enrolled as a full-time student, learning to draw and refining his sculpting techniques. He graduated from the Schuler School of Fine Art in May 2010, and works from his studio in Ruxton, Maryland. His varied commissions are in private collections around the United States.
